Welcome to Sixth Form

Welcome to the Sixth Form at Loreto College where student life is both exciting and challenging. Choosing to continue post-16 education here provides an excellent opportunity to become an independent, resilient and resourceful young person, ready to succeed in the fast changing 21st Century.

We are a thriving community justifiably proud of our excellent examination results and the large number of students who are accepted onto degree courses each year, including some of the most competitive subjects at the Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. We provide a wide variety of successful academic programmes. While the majority of the Sixth Form are girls continuing their education at Loreto following their GCSEs, we do allocate a number of places to external students. In September 2013 we were delighted to welcome boys as full-time students, making Loreto Sixth Form co-educational.

Our Sixth Form students benefit from having a dedicated area of the school, The Elms 6th Form Centre, comprising of a Common Room and Kitchen for socialising and designated rooms with ICT facilities and Wi-fi access for both independent and supported quiet study. Elsewhere on the premises, our 6th Form enjoy exclusive student access to our Health and Fitness Suite, before and after school, at lunch and during free periods.

We encourage all our students to contribute to the wider community and as a result they are regarded as leaders by younger pupils in our school. There are many opportunities to take on positions of responsibility and leadership within our school community, including serving on the School Council, working within the Learning Support Department, leading the extra-curricular clubs and being part of the Prefect system.

We are immensely proud of our Sixth Form students and are delighted that you are considering joining our thriving, successful community.
