Space Conference Write-up
One of our Yr11 students - Camilla Bajek - was recently given the fantastic opportunity to hear from the astronaut & engineer Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski. Here's Camilla to tell you all about it:
Recently, I was extremely fortunate to be given the opportunity to attend an online conference with the astronaut and engineer Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski. In the recent Axiom Mission 4, he and three other astronauts spent two weeks living and working in the International Space Station. As he explained, this mission was centralised around 13 experiments, all focused on bone health, muscle stimulation, materials science and biotechnology in space (and potentially what life in space would look like).
What stood out the most, was his clear passion and adoration for his job. I find it admirable that through years of sacrifice, he still managed to keep his love for his career alive and thriving - even after facing setbacks, like failing to be chosen for another space mission years prior.
This conference was an incredible opportunity for me, as someone who is interested in careers within the engineering sector, and I’m truly grateful for this experience. Aerospace engineering is without a doubt a dynamic industry, that is reshaping our notions of the future.
