A Celebration of Art in Yrs 7, 8 & 9

Year 7

Year 7 recently completed Humanimal portraits based on their own collages which combined human and animal features in a variety of ways, some of which display a fantastic sense of humour and are wildly imaginative.

Year 8

Year 8 produced landscape paintings which combined personal belongings on window sills with selected landscape or cityscape views beyond. Students explored a new range of painting techniques on the project and it is brilliant to see their preferences and styles expressed so individually.

Year 9

Year 9 students created an amazing range of posters on a new Homage to my Hero project which focused on their personal choice of hero or celebrity and an inspirational message. It was fantastic to also see students incorporate pattern using sgraffito and wax resist techniques in their designs. Can you spot Malala, Elizabeth I, Helena Bonham Carter, Princess Diana or Drake in the below examples? From a teacher's perspective it was quite humbling to learn about the incredible knowledge students have of popular celebrity culture and the project was mutually educational at times! We hope you enjoy looking at the results of their hard work.
