Catholic Life Enrichment
JPIC group – JPIC stands for Justice, Peace and Integrity in Creation. Our JPIC group is overseen by Miss O’Callaghan and the senior JPIC prefects and every form group has a JPIC representative. The JPIC group’s focus for 2023- 24 is Laudato Si. The JPIC group support the local food bank and homeless centre and organise Christmas hampers for local families in conjunction with our local parish. The group also give regular assemblies to update students on issues such as The Common Good, Sustainable Development Goals and CAFOD campaigns including climate justice.
Catechetics – Year 12 students can volunteer to train as a catechist. The catechists visit our local Catholic primary schools to deliver RE lessons as well as helping in their own parishes.
STEP – We are very grateful for the support we receive from Step, a local Christian group. Step support our retreat programme, run our Christian- based lunch time club for KS3 students called The Snug and run a leadership programme for our senior prefect team. They also offer support for our students who may feel anxious or nervous, especially coming up to public exams.
Retreats – Year 7 go on a residential retreat to Waxwell House, the retreat centre run by The Diocese of Westminster youth ministry team. Every year group, including Year 7, have an annual retreat day held in school with the Step team.
Pilgrimage to Rome – Every year the RE department organise the annual pilgrimage to Rome for a group of Year 10 students.
Sixth Form Loreto Leadership retreat – Groups of sixth form students from the Loreto Schools across England meet for the annual leadership conference.
Eucharistic ministers – Students and staff can train to be Eucharistic Ministers. We are very grateful to Fr. Michael from Ss Alban and Stephen for providing this training.
Staff prayer group – the staff prayer group meets weekly. All staff, regardless of religion or denomination, are welcome to attend.
Pupil prayer groups – The Sixth Form catechists plan and run prayer groups for the younger students.
Lenten charities – every year during Lent the students raise money for charities. Please see our fundraising page for more details.
Visits to places of worship including the local synagogue and a Hindu temple. The local Rabbi has also visited school to talk to the GCSE students as part of their studies.
Stations of the Cross – The Stations are said in Lent. All students attend a service.
The Rosary – The rosary is said in May and October
Friday lunch time Mass. We are grateful to the priests from Ss Alban and Stephen for coming into school to say Mass in our school chapel.
Exposition – As part of our Friday Mass cycle some classes get to experience Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
The Good Shepherd Mass at Westminster Cathedral and Catholic Children’s Society Carol Service at Westminster cathedral – The school is represented at this service by students and staff.
Inspection by Westminster Diocese
Westminster Diocese inspected the school in February 2020 and concluded that Loreto College is “a vibrant, alive and engaging Catholic community”, outstanding in all areas. You can read the full report here:
