The school is oversubscribed and has earned an excellent reputation for discipline, pastoral care and academic standards.

The successful candidate will be innovative and have a passion for the subject. They will have the ability to inspire, engage and motivate students, and be able to teach across the whole ability range, KS3, KS4 and ideally KS5.
Visitors often say they are struck by the calm atmosphere and warmth and kindness of our students and staff. To help you make your decision on whether or not to apply, we can facilitate visits to the school to meet the Headteacher.
Classics and Latin at Loreto College
The successful candidate will join a successful team of four Classicists, teaching Latin and Classical Civilisation from Year 7 through to Year 13.
All pupils study Latin in Year 7, following the Cambridge Latin Course. In Year 8, our most successful Latinists continue with this course, whilst others switch across to Classical Civilisation. We usually have 10-20 pupils opting for GCSE Latin, and around 50-70 opting for GCSE Classical Civilisation. Both courses are also offered at A-level, provided there is sufficient uptake - we currently have 3 students studying Latin in Year 13, and 17 studying Classical Civilisation. Our results are strong, and several of our students have gone on to study classical courses at a range of universities, including Oxbridge. Our students are a pleasure to teach. We expect our staff to work hard, and in return we offer plenty of opportunities for further career development.
