April 24th / Yesterday one of our Young Enterprise teams won an award at the County Finals. Well done to Aquilla!
Aquilla is a vibrant Young Enterprise Team comprising the following members:
- Danica Marcos, Managing Director
- Eliza Clifford, Finance Director
- Andria Fleming, Sales and Marketing Director
- Emma Nation, IT Director
- Emma Burke, Operations Director
- Ann Antonys H.R. and Administration Director
They have been inspired and helped by Caroline Hurley their Business Adviser from Hurley Marketing. Jane Needham, the St Albans and Harpenden Young Enterprise Manager, has also encouraged and guided the team.
They had already progressed through the Area Final to last night’s County Final held at the University of Hertfordshire in the prestigious Weston Auditorium. They achieved the Best Trade Stand Award. The Trade Stand is judged on the company appearance, branding and product knowledge. The team were questionned by a set of judges at the Trade Stand which they had set up. Aquilla also picked up a substantial order from a local business. They even sold to and networked with Zoe Jackson of “Living the Dream”, who was the motivational speaker for the evening. She gave their notebooks a shout out in her talk, and is passing on a contact with NotOnTheHighStreet.com.
Aquilla would like to thank Mrs Lynch for allowing them to sell in school and to take part in the Young Enterprise Programme, Mrs Kerry for driving the School Minibus to the County Final, and both Miss Ross and Mrs Wicks for offering their support at last night’s event. Aquilla would also like to thank Mrs Hollywood for supporting them at Welwyn Trade Fair (and storing their money safely), and Mr Hayes for the tweets and publicity via the School Website. Most of all though, they would like to thank Mrs Lloyd, the Centre Lead for Young Enterprise at Loreto College, who supported them every step of the way.
Here is some more information from Aquilla themselves:
For millennia humans have always looked for inspiration in the words and actions of others to help them in their lives; from the works of Socrates and Plato to the lives and words of A.A. Milne, Walt Disney and Martin Luther King. At Aquilla we believe that inspiration is truly everywhere. As a group of sixth form students we’ve had our fair share of organisation problems and, of course, a rather large amount of procrastination! But we say no more! At Aquilla our team are dedicated to providing a quality service ensuring that our customers lives are managed and cheerful. Whilst we have suffered set backs, we have also came a long way and our team of six are dedicated, passionate and inspired. This has helped us get to where we are today. So if you want an inspirational quote to get you through the day then make sure you browse our collection of folders and Eco-friendly notebooks.
And as we say at Aquilla, “Don’t Agonise; Organise!”
Aquilla’s notebooks are individually printed and hand stitched using recycled paper and card. They are on sale at The Courtyard Cafe in St Albans. They will also be on sale in school after the AS Exams, with the opportunity for personalised notebooks to be produced in greater volume. You can see examples of our products in the pictures below.
