July 24th / Last Tuesday a group of 58 Y9 and 10 Loreto students took part in a STEM day run by First Edition at RAF Halton. The day focussed on the STEM-related careers available through the RAF. The students enjoyed a day packed with hands-on activities. Everybody had a go at designing, building or testing:
- a helipad tower made from paper and glue;
- a glider made from card and drinking straws;
- a system that would deliver aid to communities in a flooded area.
We are proud to announce that a group of Loreto college girls won the Air Delivery competition, finishing ahead of groups from other local schools!
On top of all of this action, everybody also had a chance of attempting to land an aircraft in a flight simulator.
The girls had a great day and also had an insight into what STEM careers might be available for them in the future.
Mr Pimentao.
