June 11th / The Science department has organised a fun Forensic day for all Year 10 students on Wednesday 18th June. This hands-on has been designed to promote all STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths). All pupils will be fully engaged in practical ‘hands-on’ activities which will help them to learn about the processes and applications used at a Crime Scene. These include lifting fingerprints using magnetic powder and black ink, making footwear castings, and analysing hairs & fibres. The last part of this session will explore the preservation of forensic evidence at a Crime Scene, and encourage pupils to develop well-argued conclusions which can be presented to fellow students.
