June 27th /On Wednesday some of our Y7 pupils competed at St Albans Girls School in their first District Rounders Tournament, which involves most of the schools from St Albans and Harpenden.
The girls were initially nervous as it was their first time playing together as a team, and a few small mistakes led to them unfortunately losing their first game of the group against Samuel Ryder. With a few changes to the team and some new tactics, the girls played a fantastic second game and won convincingly against St Albans High School. With a boost in confidence and a win now under their belts, they also went on to beat Townsend and Beaumont consecutively. Unfortunately, this winning streak didn’t last as they were defeated by St George’s in their final game. After an anxious wait to see if we had made it through to the next round, we learned that we came joint 2nd in our group, and that sadly we had missed out on a place in the semi-final by just a couple of points.
The girls all played brilliantly and their performances and co-operation as a team improved each game. A huge well done to the following girls:
Isabella, Louise and Freya (7F), Ellie (7J), Bridie, Jennifer and Leonie (7S), Mia, Katrina and Sarah (7T) and Juola and Grace (7Y).
