July 14th / Congratulations to our Year 12 students who have now been commissioned as Eucharistic Ministers at Ss Alban & Stephen Church by Fr. Charles. They will now be able to assist the Priest with the distribution of Holy Communion during school/parish Masses. Well done to all concerned: the school received lots of positive comments from the Church attenders. There will be further training and another commissioning Mass in the autumn term for those who were unable to make this one. Aoife and Niamh have written this report:
On the morning of Tuesday the 14th of July, we were privileged to attend a commissioning Mass to confirm our roles as Eucharistic ministers. We were joined by Father Charles and several other members of the Parish and congregation. In the Mass we signed a declaration of the responsibilities we hold as Eucharistic ministers and three of us also practised our new roles as ministers by serving the blood and body of Christ.
It has been a great opportunity for us all to become more involved in St Albans and St Stephens Parish. We all look forward to helping and serving at the Thanksgiving Mass on Friday. We would also like to thank Sister Anita for guiding us through our journey to becoming Eucharistic ministers. We now feel confident and prepared to fulfil our role. We allwe enjoyed working alongside Sister Anita and learnt a lot from her experiences.
We will complete the academic year with our annual Thanksgiving Mass on Friday in the church, and will take the opportunity to say goodbye and thank you to Fr. Charles Sweeney, who has been a valued member of our community. We wish him every success and happiness in his new post in Ireland.
