July 14th / At the start of this month, Y12 Biology students took part in a field trip to the Rhyd-y-Creuau Research Centre in North Wales. Chloe Davison tells us more …

We enjoyed three full days of lessons that included trips out to the River Conwy, the ancient oak woodland of Coed Hafod, and the sand dunes at Morfa Harlech.  On each of these trips we had a project to complete: a mammal survey, river biodiversity, types of lichen on tree species, and the succession of a beach.  Our guide and teacher, Sam, helped us to understand the ecology elements of our A2 course in an interactive way – this will help us immensely in the exams next summer.  We all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would like to thank Mr Downes and Dr Paul for coming on the trip with us.
