June 12th / Last Friday 24 of our gifted and talented pupils from Years 7 and 8 spent the day working with Ian Roberts, senior lecturer at the University of Bedfordshire. He talked with them about their talents and their potential within PE, sport and beyond.
In their first session, the girls explored the qualities of their own sporting role models before coming up with the type of sports person they aspire to be.
The girls were then put through their paces in an exciting relay session in the glorious sunshine, designed to push them to the best of their abilities, before returning to the classroom where Ian shared his experiences of working with Gold medal-winning Olympic athletes such as Jessica Ennis and Greg Rutherford.
To conclude the workshop, the girls were encouraged to explore ‘Team ME’, and to reflect upon the ways in which they can achieve success in their own sports.
A big thank you goes to Ian for coming in to spend the day with us, and a huge well done to our girls for taking part in what proved to be a successful and inspiring day.
