March 16th / To mark International Women’s Day last week, Years 7-10 each held an assembly with an overarching theme of empowerment and celebration.
Year 7 felt strongly about the idea of stereotypes and promoted the idea that girls can achieve anything they set their mind to.
Year 8 challenged the idea of the perfect, idealised female body and showed how women come in all shapes and sizes, all of which are beautiful.
Years 9 and 10 both focused on gender stereotypes and feminism and asked the question, “What is a feminist?”.
A big thank you to all the girls who took part; they raised awareness of current inequalities and gave a positive message about challenging the status quo.
