Feb 9th / After half-term, our pupils will take part in a variety of activities encouraging them to reflect on the value of Freedom. On Monday 23rd February, the canteen is hosting a “Rich World/Poor World” lunch. Whilst most of us dine lavishly each day, a huge percentage of the world’s population survive on a meagre bowl of rice. This event will hopefully help everyone to appreciate the freedom of choice people have in ‘rich’ countries compared to those in ‘poor’ countries.
Twenty lucky people will dine on a luxurious three course meal, including a drink, which will be served in the dining room at lunchtime. Everyone else will have bread and soup. As always, water will be available from the dispenser in the canteen. No other food will be available at lunchtime on that day. Raffle tickets are being sold at a cost of £2.00 each. The raffle will be drawn on Monday morning.
This event will also mark the start of our Lenten fundraising, with all of the proceeds going to our chosen charities. Last year, Loreto students raised over £10,000 as part of their fundraising drive, and we would be delighted if they can match that figure this time round. We therefore hope that ALL members of Loreto will support our efforts.
Tickets purchased via ParentMail+Pay will be distributed to pupils via registers. They can also be purchased directly from the RE department, or from RE prefects during registration.
