Feb 13th / During the week after half term our students will be exploring the theme of Freedom, one of Mary Ward’s key values. The students will learn about the benefits of living in a free society. They will be looking at such important issues as:

 • Individual freedom

• Freedom of information

• Rights and responsibilities

• Personal safety

• World freedom

• Human rights

• Slavery and trafficking

• Freedom for women

• British government & national parliamentary democracy

The week will involve events such as debates about freedom and responsibilities, Freedom artwork, The 21st Century Magna Carta, a freedom of information competition, freedom of expression activities (including a performance by Hindsight, a boy band with a message), employment law and sweatshop simulation, a political freedom dance workshop, a theatre visit to Les Miserables, assemblies on British government and democracy, civil rights discussions, and much more besides.
