14th Oct 2016 – After the half term break, football training will begin again with Arsenal Ladies and Miss Mackenzie. The aim of these sessions is to increase both participation and achievement in this sport and ideally to establish a viable Loreto football team that can take part in friendly matches and possibly also league events in the local community. The PE department believes that this is a fantastic opportunity for the girls at Loreto to take advantage of top quality training and excellent local facilities in order to improve their skills and their understanding of the game .
These sessions will take place on the Clarence Park astro-turf pitch from 4.00pm until 5.00pm on the following dates.
10th, 17th, 24th November
8th, 15th December
12th, 26th January
All the places on this scheme have been filled, but any interested pupils who missed the chance to sign up can still put their names on the reserve list, and should see Mrs Mackenzie to do so. We asked some of the participants what motivated them to sign up …
Grace: “I am looking forward to learning new football skills.”
Heaven-Leigh: “I’m looking forward to playing football on the astro turf.”
Natalie: “I will enjoy learning new skills at Clarence Park.”
As always, we are very grateful to the Arsenal ladies for giving up the time to work with and inspire our students.
Mrs Stephens is also running hockey sessions alongside the football, and we hope these will also lead to greater participation in future.
