March 20th / The International Day of Happiness seemed to get off to a gloomy start during today’s eclipse, but the Loreto community came together to bring a little light into the lives of people far less fortunate than ourselves. Many of our students and staff wore something bright yellow in support of the Sunshine School in Vietnam, and visited the school Chapel to offer prayers and donations. They were able to see some images of some of the pupils they are helping – both before and after the Sunshine School began to work with them. The school offers an education to children who have had a difficult start to life. These range from street children to victims of violence and sexual exploitation.
Once the eclipse was over, our school was bathed in beautiful sunlight and the Sixth Form students started to count the money that had been donated. We are delighted to announce that the Loreto community raised over £3,700 – what an amazing achievement! This will enable sixteen children to attend The Sunshine School for a whole year and receive the education they deserve. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
