On Tuesday 23rd November, we hosted our annual Careers Fair in the hall. We were lucky enough to be supported by representatives from a number of different organisations, industries, professions and educational providers. During period 3 the fair was open exclusively to Year 9 pupils as part of their PSHE programme, then to Year 11, period 4. The fair provided students with a fine opportunity to address many of the eight Gatsby benchmarks for Good Careers Guidance, including: –

1. A stable careers programme
2. Learning from career and labour market information
3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
5. Encounters with employers and employees
6. Experiences of workplaces
7. Encounters with further and higher education
8. Personal guidance

During period 3, Year 9 students wandered round the different stalls to help them start thinking about their future plans and aspirations. The session was relaxed and flexible to enable students to find out about as many different jobs, professions, and industries as possible.During period 4, Year 11 students attended the fair with their CVs in hand! They chatted to one or two guests about the look and content of their CVs and received some tips and advice about how to make theirs shine!
