24th April 2017 – Calling all budding poets! The Foyle Young Poets competition is now open for 2017, and the English department is keen for all students (aged 11-17) to submit their entries online before 31st July!  NB – You can submit more than one poem!

This year’s judges for the competition are Sinéad Morrissey (winner of the TS Eliot Prize for poetry 2014) and Kayo Chingonyi (winner of the Geoffrey Dearmer Prize for Poetry)! To enter this year’s competition please register using the competition’s online registration page which can be found by following this link:

On the website you can also read all top 15 winners’ poems from last year’s entries!

In KS3 English lessons, teachers will share more details of the competition including the amazing prizes up for grabs (which include a once-in-a-lifetime Arvon Creative Writing Course!), and offer some inspiration for students wanting to submit poems for the competition.

We wish all students who enter the very best of luck!
