Feb 12th / This week’s Art Showcase items were created as part of a Year 8 Cupcake Project.  Christie O’Shea (8S) explains what this involved …

Just before Christmas we started designing a clay cupcake in Art. Our inspiration was the American artist Wayne Thiebaud, who paints pictures of sweet things like cakes and icecreams. We drew one of his pictures in coloured pencil and then researched further on the Internet.  We printed out ideas to help us draw out our final design, and I chose Santa’s face for my cupcake. We practised painting the design in acrylic paint in our books and then we were all set to start making our clay pots. We sculpted our designs and then painted them according to our design.
