Life After Loreto

At Loreto College we believe in providing young people with the skills required for the modern world by offering a breadth of learning experiences. Work experience and work placements are encouraged as we wish our students to be aware of the challenges and expectations of employment today.

In addition to academic studies, we provide a substantial enrichment programme designed to address the personal and spiritual development of each student. Please see our enrichment page for more details.

UCAS

We have a highly effective programme of support for all our students. Individual academic mentoring allows us to work closely with students on their university applications to ensure they are successful in achieving their desired outcome. Every year we provide specialist consultant support and training for our potential Oxbridge, medicine, veterinary science and dentistry applicants.

As well as support provided in school, annually we organise a trip to Nottingham University where our students experience a bespoke Open Day to assist with their UCAS application. We also run information sessions for parents and carers alongside detailed guidance for students delivered in PSHE sessions.

Careers Advice

Regular speakers and external agencies advise students about all aspects of university life, including applications and finances. Support is given with the preparation of personal statements and the application process. Leadership and enterprise opportunities are available and positively encouraged during the two years. Bespoke work experience is arranged for all Year 12 students in the first week of July. Students are encouraged to be proactive in providing their own placements although we do work with Services for Young People to ensure that all students are placed. We provide all Year 12 and 13 students with access to Unifrog an online careers platform.
