Send My Friend to School
1 Goal

On Friday June 18th the whole school took part in the international “Send My Friend to School” campaign. Our Year 7 girls in their geography lessons designed class football scarves and got thousands of signatures from family and friends, showing their support for the campaign. These scarves have been sent to the Prime Minister, David Cameron to remind him of the importance of helping more children across the world to gain an education.

We then raffled an England shirt signed by Fabio Capello, who opened our school fete last year.  We managed to raise over £1000, which will be sent to Loreto Sealdah School in Calcutta. Here the pupils of the school go out onto the streets and help street children to read and write.  They are then invited back into the school to shower and have a meal.

Congratulations to Georgia, of 8T, who was the lucky winner of the shirt.

We are pleased that as a school, we have been able to make such a difference to people less fortunate than ourselves and it is hoped that in the future, some Loreto Girls will be able to visit Calcutta to see how our money is helping send more children to school.  A huge thank you to everyone who took part.
