“Between Shades of Gray” by Ruta Sepetys this is her first novel, drawn on her own family accounts from the survivors. I am sure this book will remain with you for some time to come, and my hope is that your life will be touched by her.

Stock and Facilities:
 
Fiction -The Library stocks a selection of classic works and  good modern fiction suitable for all age groups within our school. We also have a 'resevation' book - if you can't see your favourite author/book, write down your request, ie: title and author with your name and form and Mrs Sandbrook will see about purchasing it for the school library. 001

Non-Fiction - The Library aims to stock books in all subjects taught in the school.   We have study guides for set texts.

Videos and DVDs - The DVDs & Videos held in the library are mainly bought as study guides, i.e. they correspond to the works studied in English, Drama, Dance, Modern Foreign Languages etc. There are just a few that are of more general interest. These are always issued on an overnight loan basis.

Reference Stock - The Library stocks a good selection of Reference material. This includes atlases, English and foreign language dictionaries, general and specialist encyclopaedia.

Newspapers and Magazines - The library buys The Times and The Daily Mail (weekdays, term time only), and  The Herts Advetiser. We also stock Paris Match and National Geographic. New magazines for girls are "Teen Vogue" and "t" magazine both written with teenagers in mind!

Computer Access - The Library has two computers, both with Internet access. 003

Photocopier - There is a slot machine operated photocopier in the library for the use of pupils.

Library Etiquette:
 
Eating, drinking and the use of mobile phones are not allowed in the library.
 
Noise is to be kept to a minimum.
 
Fines: Books are issued to pupils for up to three weeks. At the end of that time books should be returned to the library or renewed for a further three week period if still required.  Fines on overdue books are charged at the rate of 5p per day per item.
